Unbelieveable

So. As mentioned in yesterday's post, I reinstituted the "prove you're not a spam bot" thing where you have to figure out what certain distorted letters shown are and then type them to be able to post messages. It stopped most of spam - but not all of it. I'm still getting spammed. So, I'm going to go and remove the prove you're not a spam bot thing and make it so one has to register to leave a message. I hate this. Nobody really cares anyway. I just get tired of all the spam and having to remove it from both the blog and the copies the blog sends to my email. Maybe I should just delete the blog. I don't want to, but this situation is just unacceptable - I tried living with it but that doesn't work. If this move doesn't do the trick....

Okay...how does one register to leave spam (oops, I mean comments). Really, how annoying that you have to go through this.

Hi, Delores! If you are a blogger, have a Google account, or have what is called an "open id" then you can post without having to do anything. At least that's the way I understand it. Certainly your message came through to my email account with no problems.

p.s. to Delores - very funny.

That's pretty much what I did with my comments setting some years ago, but also activated a function that sends all comments to my email for approval. Spam got discouraged in about a week or two. You're on the right track.

Geo - thanks for the encouragement. I used to use the "approve" function, but decided to forgo it after a couple of weeks. I no longer remember why.
